Physiotherapist & Director

James is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with over 20 years’ experience. He completed his BSc in Physiotherapy with Honours in Edinburgh 2004 and a Masters in Manual Therapy at the University of Western Australia in 2011.

James has spent the last 10 years helping build South Coast Physiotherapy into the clinic it is today. Before this he worked in Scotland and in New Zealand in both the public and private systems. He has spent time in both local and elite sporting environments including a season as the academy physiotherapist at Hibernian FC and 2 seasons providing physiotherapy cover at Cardrona ski field in Wanaka, NZ.

James currently spends 1 day a week with foot and ankle surgeon, Dr Amy Touzell at South East Orthopaedic Surgery (SEOS) assisting in both non-surgical and post surgical ankle management. This has also given James the opportunity to present the clinics findings on non-surgically managed Achilles Ruptures to the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

James enjoys being part of the close knit multidisciplinary team that South Coast Physiotherapy offers and, although he enjoys seeing the wide variety of injuries that come through the door, he has developed a special interest in lower limb rehabilitation (hip, knee and ankles), tendon pathologies and shoulder injuries. James uses hands on treatment techniques but ensures that thorough assessment, education and pursuing functional activity are the driving forces behind his injury management.

In his free time James enjoys trying to keep up with his young family - tackling the Red Hill mountain bike tracks and recreational running.

James is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
